CLUE

Cleveland Underwater Explorers Inc, (CLUE) is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to research, locate, explore and document the shipwrecks of the Great Lakes with an emphasis on Lake Erie. The team consists of individuals experienced in maritime archaeology, archival research, Great Lakes history and ship construction, underwater survey techniques and equipment, mechanical and electrical engineering, and recreational and technical scuba diving.

MAST

MAST, the Maritime Archaeological Survey Team, is a nonprofit avocational group dedicated to the documentation of Ohio's underwater historic resources. Formed in March of 2000, MAST is composed of volunteer individuals who support and participate in research, documentation, underwater archaeological surveys, and educational workshops. MAST is the lead organization in Ohio placing buoys on shipwrecks for their preservation. As of 2007, seven Ohio shipwrecks have seasonal buoys with permanent moorings, with another three shipwreck site approved for mooring buoys in 2008.

Mooring Buoy Program

Since their beginning in 2000, the Maritime Archaeological Survey Team (MAST) has had quite a positive impact regarding the knowledge about and preservation of Lake Erie shipwrecks. From training divers the skills necessary to conduct shipwreck research, to conducting numerous underwater shipwreck surveys, MAST has become an important part in the preservation of Ohio's Lake Erie maritime heritage.

PLERSC

The Peachman Lake Erie Shipwreck Research Center (PLESRC) is the premier location for Lake Erie shipwreck information. The center has documentation on over 2200 wrecks in Lake Erie, Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, and St. Clair River. There is a constant recovery of new information. PLESRC is also actively involved with the gathering of information from the actual shipwrecks. Since it opened in 2000, PLESRC has been a lead member on the survey of 5 shipwrecks in the Ohio waters of Lake Erie.

The Dive Flag

OHIO REVISED CODE 1547.01 (22) under Definitions. "Divers Flag" means a red flag not less than one foot square having a diagonal white stripe extending from the masthead to the opposite lower corner that when displayed indicates that divers are in the water.
